Special Projects
Throughout the 60 years of its establishment the Foundation has considered support of a number of worthwhile projects outside those relating to its traditional focus areas. Such projects often comprise activities that are of particular interest, address a specific need, or that have an impact over a broad scale.
Golden Jubilee Playgrounds
On the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great’s Accession to the Throne, the Thai Red Cross Society constructed 100 playgrounds for children in rural areas throughout the country. Twenty-five of these playgrounds were built through funds awarded by the Foundation.
Materials in Gynecological Pathology
A Foundation-sponsored project of the Faculty of Medicine at Chulalongkorn University during 1996-1998 produced a comprehensive set of instructional aids and materials that were distributed to medical schools, physicians, and doctors-in-training throughout the country, making important knowledge readily available to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of women patients.
Eyeglasses for School Children
During the economic downturn in the mid-1990s, the Foundation provided substantial support for a Red Cross-initiated project that provided eyeglasses to needy youngsters throughout the country
